Michelin Guide 9th Edition
Anonymous (Michelin Tyre Co. Ltd.)
Publication Year: 1927.. The iconic "Red Guide" branding for Great Britain wasn't standardized until the early 1930s. This edition was published during the "Interwar" period. At this time, Michelin had recently shifted from giving the guides away for free to charging for them (starting in 1920) under the philosophy that "man only truly respects what he pays for." While the very first Michelin stars were introduced in France in 1926, the 9th Edition for Great Britain focused heavily on motorist infrastructure: petrol stations, tire stockists, and hotels, alongside a growing list of restaurant recommendations.
